Hello and welcome to my website!

My name is Anne-Marie Wills-Wilson and I am a pet and wildlife artist living in the beautiful North Norfolk countryside totally surrounded by the wildlife that I adore!!

I’ve always been dotty about animals and, over the years, have been owned by lots of pets... dogs, cats, budgies, rabbits, mice, chickens, horses and even the odd frog or two!!

I know how precious our pets are to us and that is why having a portrait created is a wonderful way of capturing their individual character and spirit.

My passion for my subjects shines through my work, and my attention to fine detail gives a natural and lifelike appearance. Each portrait takes many hours of work and I use the highest quality pastel pencils, soft pastel sticks and paper to achieve the best results.

Original pastel artwork, fine art giclee prints and greeting cards are always available to purchase. Please contact me for details.

I am a member of the Society for All Artists (SAA).

Please feel free to contact me by email to discuss a special pet or wildlife portrait. Whether it’s a gift for a lucky friend, relative or for yourself, I’d be happy to help you make your choice!!

If you are unsure about what the recipient would like, I also offer gift vouchers for you to give!

HOW TO ORDER

If you would like to commission a portrait, the first step is to contact me with your details and requirements by using the ‘Contact Me’ form. I require a £20.00 deposit before I begin your portrait. When your portrait is completed I will ask you to view it online. Once you have confirmed that you are 100% happy with it, I will ask for the balance to be paid prior to despatch. If you don't like the portrait, you don't have to buy it. I want you to be happy with my artwork. I will make changes until you are completely satisfied. If I don't succeed, you don't have to send payment and I will refund your deposit... as simple as that. So you have absolutely nothing to lose. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or Paypal (you don’t need a Paypal account). I will invoice you initially for the deposit and then again later for the balance of payment upon completion. If you are paying by cheque, despatch will be after clearance of your cheque. I aim to be able to complete your portrait within 14 – 60 days depending on its size and the time of year. Please make cheques payable to: Anne-Marie Wills-Wilson.

Approximate Size

10" x 10" £140
12" x 12" £165
14" x 14" £190

Please add £70 per extra subject.
Sizes are the paper size and not the image size. The image will be sized to best fit the paper. Please note that size 10 x 10 is not suitable for a double portrait and 12 x 12 is only suitable for 2 smaller animals. For special commissions and other sizes, please feel free to contact me. Pastel paintings need to be handled carefully as they can easily smudge and they should also not be placed in direct sunlight as this would provoke fading.

Photography tips

I specialise in head and shoulder portraits, therefore in order or me to produce the best likeness of your pet, it is vital that I work from good quality, clear photographs. Other photographs you may have are useful for extra reference for things like colouring and markings and will also help me get an idea of your pets character.

I can work from actual photographs or jpeg images.

Photographs are best taken level with the animal and not from above. This will help to make it look a far more natural pose. You may need to recruit the help of a friend with a squeaky toy to help you get your pet’s attention too!

I can only paint what I can see, so care in taking the photograph will ensure the best likeness. Details like colouring, markings and most especially the eyes will make it look more like your pet.

If your pet has passed away, I will do my very best with the photographs that you have. I know just how precious these memories are.

All photographs will be looked after carefully and returned to you when the portrait is completed.

Whilst good, clear photographs are my favourite to work from, sometimes this isn’t possible. I have, in the past, been able to reproduce a pets' photograph for people whose pets have passed away when they only have one or two grainy photographs. If this is the case, I can advise you whether it is possible to create a portrait from such a reference photograph.

Our gorgeous Rottweiler, Joey has been perfectly captured by Anne-Marie and has pride of place on the wall next to the picture of our Cat Anne-Marie did a while back. Both pictures capture perfectly our little fur-babies and I would highly recommend Anne-Marie. - A.C.

I am absolutely thrilled to bits with the stunning portrait Anne-Marie Wills-Wilson created of my much loved Labrador Retriever Indi - it is so unmistakably him, the likeness of the portrait still takes my breathe away - Anne-Marie managed to bring him back to life for me and I love starring at his portrait now he is no longer with me. Anne-Marie made the entire process enjoyable, and I loved how much she took the time to get to know Indi - his personality is captured in abundance. An amazing artist with incredible skill and a wonderfully kind and generous human! I'd recommend Anne-Marie to anyone looking to have a portrait of their pet - you will be in save hands - she will do them justice! - H.K.

I would highly recommend Anne-Marie Wills-Wilson Artworks, as her work is truly beautiful and her attention to detail is incredible. I arranged for Anne-Marie to commission a portrait for my partner, of his beloved dog, Ben. There was excellent communication with Anne-Marie throughout. From discussing my requirements, to providing her with photographs and keeping me updated with the progress. My partner doesn't cry much, but on opening his present, it brought a tear to his eye. It was the exact image of his old dog. It was like a photograph. To this day my partner says it is one of the best presents ever. Having been impressed by her work, my partner then decided to arrange to have a commission portrait of my gorgeous dog, as a gift for me. And once again, Anne-Marie did not let us down. From the detail on her fur, glistening eyes, to the gloss of her coat. The portrait is absolutely beautiful. We are now own 2 portraits by Anne-Marie Wills-Wilson Artworks, which take pride of place on our wall. I would highly recommend Anne-Marie, you wont be disappointed and the customer service is excellent. - S.J.

I sadly lost my dear cat Spike earlier in the year. I was heartbroken and the house felt so empty without him. I commissioned Anne-Marie to do a portrait of him and I was absolutely thrilled with the finished portrait. Anne-Marie kept me updated with her progress on the portrait and checked with me several times that I was happy with it. She has captured him perfectly and I now feel like I have my boy back home with me. It certainly helped me to get over his loss and I just love it. Anne-Marie framed the portrait for me and it arrived beautifully packaged. I can't recommend her artwork enough and I will certainly be having a portrait done of my next furry pal - J.S.

What a wonderful portrait of Barney. You have really captured the look and character of this lovely boy. We had this portrait painted for Barney’s owners and it was very hard for us to part with it!! Thank you so much, Anne-Marie!! RB Devon

Thank you so much Anne-Marie for the beautiful painting of our much missed Chocolate Labrador, Holly. You have totally captured her lovely eyes and almost impish smile! The mug in her mouth just reminds me of the time she picked up my mug after a cup of tea!! You are so talented and no one should have any qualms about having their pet painted. A very big thank you!! JW Yorkshire

The portrait of Cody was brilliant!! My mum broke down when she saw it and my dad had to walk out of the house to take a breather. They said that they couldn’t believe how amazing it was and how much it looks like him sitting there. A C Norwich

Cody was our first dog and he grew up with the girls, loving all of the family as much as we loved him. 2 years ago he became very poorly but with the help of the vets lasted longer than we ever thought. I cannot believe the sadness and emptiness a dog can leave in your heart, but to open that portrait of him on Christmas Day was such an emotional moment but also joyous. Thank you so much for our lovely portrait. He was 11 years old.Mrs C Norwich

We met Anne-Marie and her chocolate lab Brodie at puppy classes with our Clumber spaniel Gus. A lovely lady with an exceptional talent for creating the most beautiful portraits .
Unfortunately we lost our darling boy Gus at only 8months old very suddenly ,it totally broke our hearts .We now have 2 clumber spaniels Bronn almost 3 and our baby Bayda who’s 10 months old .We decided to have a portrait done of all 3 of our boys . Ever since I met Anne -Marie , I knew it would be her to do this for us !!
We are so over the moon with the portrait it is absolutely beautiful , it has pride of place in our lounge ,where we can enjoy and think of all the cherished memories we have of our darling Gus. 'Anne-Marie, we can't tell you how much your picture means to us.
I had no idea you were creating this and was simply stunned when, after receiving it this morning and Ronnie carefully unwrapped it, I was looking right at our old Benji as if he was still alive.
I cannot express the words at how well you have shown Benji;s contentment in his expression as he looks over his shoulder at the world when we were out walking and we cannot thank you enough for taking the time and patience in creating our Benji's pleasure and fulfilment we always loved to see.
Each and every stroke of your hand shows the thoughtfulness you have shown for us and we will be forever grateful for the exceptionally wonderful art you have made that will keep Benji close to us always. We will always look upon this wonderful picture in our home and think of your drawing tenderness with gratitude that cannot be measured.
You also wrote a poem that captured how much Benji meant to us... thank you dear Anne-Marie, it was such a beautiful poem  xx
Thank you sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts.'  JJ & RD

Anne-Marie has captured a look I find totally emotional - not wistful or reflective but a look indicative of great loss. This is a haunting and remarkable work.' R.D. Cornwall

‘Thank you so much for the amazing portraits you have done for us of our late dogs Jake and Tilly who we sadly lost the at the beginning of this year. We felt we wanted to have portraits done of them to put on the wall so they were still with us. Your amazing talent has brought them almost back to life every time I look at them I just want to stroke them as they make us feel as though they are actually looking back at us.
It was such a hard decision to put them to rest but as I say your talent has made this much easier as we can still see them as they were every day.
We are all over the moon with you portraits and will recommend you to anyone who asks. Everyone I have shown the images to on my phone is amazed at your amazing talent.’
